Terms & conditions.

The agreement between you and PhotoRestoration when you commission a restoration. Plain English first, formal language second.

01. Use of the service

By submitting a photograph for restoration, you confirm that you are the rightful owner of the photograph, or that you have explicit permission from the owner to commission a digital restoration. PhotoRestoration reserves the right to decline projects where ownership or permission is unclear, and to refuse content that depicts illegal activity, exploitative material involving minors, or imagery intended to deceive.

02. Accuracy disclaimer

Restoration is an interpretive craft. While every effort is made to recover original detail faithfully, severely damaged photographs may require reconstruction in damaged or missing areas. Colorization is informed by historical context and any reference details you provide, but is ultimately an artistic interpretation. A free preview is provided for colorization work and for any project that involves significant reconstruction, so you can approve the direction before final delivery.

03. Intellectual property

You retain all rights to the original photograph and to the restored version. You may use the restored file for personal, archival, or commercial purposes at your discretion. PhotoRestoration retains the right to display both the original submitted photograph and the restored version in its portfolio, website, and promotional materials unless you specifically request otherwise in writing. Original photographs are never published, only the restored output, and identifying details can be cropped or obscured on request.

04. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided with reasonable care and skill, and is intended to substantially improve the visual quality of damaged, faded, or otherwise affected photographs. Results depend on the input quality and condition of the original scan or photograph. PhotoRestoration does not warrant that any specific level of detail recovery, color accuracy, or reconstruction outcome is achievable for any individual image; a realistic assessment is provided before any paid work begins.

05. Limitation of liability

PhotoRestoration's total liability for any project is limited to the amount paid for that project. PhotoRestoration is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of data arising from circumstances outside reasonable control (such as postal loss, third-party platform outage, or force majeure). Clients are encouraged to retain a digital copy of their original photograph before submission.

06. Third-party links

This website may link to external resources (such as print services, archival supplies, or other creators I recommend). These links are provided for convenience only. PhotoRestoration is not responsible for the content, practices, or availability of any third-party site.

07. Changes to these terms

Material changes to these terms will be reflected in an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For active projects, the terms in effect at the time the project was commissioned continue to apply for the duration of that project.
